What does the federal government shutdown mean for your Social Security disability benefits?

A federal government shutdown is never ideal and brings up many worrying questions for individuals who rely on federal benefits such as Social Security disability (SSDI or SSI benefits).

The NY Times published an article this morning with some helpful information.
